This is a random thought that came up during my working day today. When preparing a property for lease, it is important to prepare the interior to be as flexible as possible. Walls and woodwork should be painted in neutral colours to suit a variety of furniture styles and colours; carpets and flooring should be hardwearing and easycare - darker carpets hide stains more easily. But what to do about window treatments? The fashion is to go with blinds; verticals or venetians are most popular but venetians can bend and look unsightly very quickly. Verticals can make the room look more like an office so choose colours carefully. If you have curtain rails, leave them there. Many tenants like to put their own curtains up. It adds warmth and a sense of home. Don't supply the curtains because they are expensive to get cleaned so tenants will forget that bit of the vacate process. Plus they do get sundamaged so need to be replaced more regularly than blinds.
